The Facial Hair Transplant Procedure

Beard and eyebrow restoration requires both surgical and artistic expertise. The aesthetics of defining lines that will naturally complement your eyes and underlying facial structure is of critical importance in order to achieve your desired results.  Working together with your surgeon during your initial consultation, you will establish your desired outcome for the shape, thickness of your improved facial hair.

Your HRC surgeon will remove a very small strip of hair in an inconspicuous donor area on your scalp the day of your procedure. The surgeon and staff, working together, will dissect the strip into grafts of one or two hairs each. These groups of hair, as known as  “follicular units,” are then placed into minute incisions in the desired brow pattern and shape. Special care is taken during this follicular unit transplantation to place the hairs with precision so they grow in the at the same angle as the surrounding hair and in the correct direction.

The transplanted hair grafts follow their natural growth cycle and will shed and grow back over the next few months. These newly transplanted hairs will continue to grow just as hair on your scalp would. This means that it will be necessary for you to trim your facial hair to the appropriate length.

Follicular unit transplantation in beard and eyebrow restoration creates a truly natural look that is essentially undetectable and surprisingly affordable.

Your HRC surgeon will match the direction and angle of the transplanted hair growth by placing these follicular units individually in order to maximize density and natural appearance.

Your transplanted facial hair will follow the same growth cycle as on your scalp. The transplanted facial hair will grow longer and faster than the natural surrounding facial hairs. It may be necessary to trim more frequently keep your new facial hair in line with surrounding facial hairs.

It is important to remember that transplanted facial hair is not as coarse as naturally growing facial hair.  Therefore, the transplanted hairs do not match the existing and surrounding hairs.  However, the results will appear and feel completely natural.  And since facial hair is relatively short, the difference will not be discernible to most individuals.
