Understanding The Hair Follicle

Hair transplants are a sustainable solution for many people regardless of their ethnicity.   However, African American clients may need special understanding regarding their particular hair growth features in order to achieve the best results.

The hair follicles require slightly larger grafts during transplantation because the hair follicles of African American patients are curved below the surface of the scalp. If necessary, testing prior to surgery will also determine the possibility for keloidal scarring following surgery.

Achieving The Best Outcome

In order to achieve the best hair transplant outcomes with our African American patients,  follicular unit micrografts, placed with special techniques to protect the base of the hair follicles are often used. These techniques also help avoid keloidal scarring, even among patients who have a history of such.
